The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team came into the series finale against Arkansas State looking to salvage the series. The Cajuns were able to get the timely hitting, defense, and pitching to defeat the Red Wolves 6-1 in Jonesboro.

Colten Schmidt came in and pitched a fantastic game as he pitched a complete game and only allowed 1 run on 8 hits. His final stat line was 9 innings pitched, 8 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks and 7 strikeouts on 119 pitches.

The Cajuns were able to get Daniel Lahare on base to lead off the game thanks to a walk in the top of the top of the first but he was stranded at 3rd to end the their half of the inning. The Red Wolves would load the bases with one out before Schmidt got 2 huge strikeouts to leave the bases loaded.

The Cajuns would be able to take advantage of the Red Wolves' pitching woes after a couple walks, and a single then a wild pitch with the bases loaded to take the early 1-0 lead. The Cajuns would increase the lead on an RBI single from Kennon Fontenot in the top of the 3rd.

The Cajuns would be able to have a 3 run inning in the top of the 5th. They would get the first 2 runs on an RBI double by Hunter Kasuls as Gavin Bourgeios and Hayden Cantrelle who extended his hitting streak to 11 games would score on the play. The 3rd run of the inning would come from an RBI single by Zach LaFleur.

The next run that would come in would be from Arkansas State in the bottom of the 8th inning. The Red Wolves would load the bases with 1 out and they would score a run on a fielder's choice but Colten Schmidt would be able to get out of the jam without allowing anymore runs in the inning.

The Cajuns would get that run back in the top of the 9th as they would score on an RBI single and they would push the lead to 6-1. The Cajuns would be able to finish off the Red Wolves to avoid the sweep and pick up the win. The Cajuns will have an off day tomorrow for Easter as they spend times with their family before gearing up for the 2nd half of the season when they face off against Southern Miss for a 2 game series starting on Tuesday.
