How you ever about some of the actions of the House of Representatives or U.S. Senate and though to yourself, "Are they on drugs?"

Third District Congressman Clay Higgins has now proposed a House Resolution that would provide for random drug testing of members of Congress and the U.S. Senate.

This is not the first time that Higgins has brought up this idea. When he was required to take a drug test earlier this year for the Lafayette City Marshal's Office, he said then he that Congress would mandate this for themselves.

The other part of this equation is that Higgins believes if you have to randomly drug screened, each individual lawmaker should pay for the cost of the testing.

If someone were to test positive for drugs, Higgins thinks that the matter should then be turned over to the Committee on Ethics.

Higginis commented the following today,

"Elected officials in Washington D.C. should be subject to the same kind of random drug screenings that blue-collar, working-class American have to endure. Congress shouldn't get to live by a different set of rules. This effort is about maintaining accountability and ensuring sober service to We, the People."
