Covington Voted Best Place In Louisiana To Retire

According to a survey by the personal finance company SmartAsset, Covington and Mandeville are the best places in Louisiana to retire.

According to SmartAsset.com, taxes, medical care and social life are some of the things that make retirement enjoyable. Covington ranked so high because of the number of Doctor's offices per 1,000 people. Covington also has favorable income and sales tax rates, as well as a high number of rec centers.

"That number was much higher than the national average," says Smith. "The number of rec centers was higher, the number of retirement centers was higher and the percentage of seniors in the area was also higher."

Lafayette scored pretty high as well, making it into the top 10. Thibodaux, West Monroe, Gonzales, Denham Springs, Slidell, Hammond, Morgan City complete the top 10.
