LAFAYETTE, La. (KMDL-FM) - According to new federal highway data, there's a stretch of I-10 in Acadiana that has unfortunately been ranked amongst the most deadliest areas in Louisiana to travel.

Deadliest Stretch Of I-10 In Louisiana

According to callcorzo.com, the deadliest 10-mile stretch in Louisiana is on I-10 in New Orleans between South Norman Francis Parkway and Bundy Road. Over the past 5 years, there have been 44 fatal crashes on this 10-mile stretch.

The other deadliest stretches of I-10 are either in or around the New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette areas.

3. New Orleans - 10 mile stretch of I-10 from Williams Boulevard to South Cortez Street. 17 fatal crashes and 17 deaths reported over a 5 year period.

4. Lafayette - 10 mile stretch of I-10 between Louisiana Avenue and Grand Point Highway in St. Martin Parish. 14 fatal crashes and 15 deaths reported over a 5 year period.
