Most Viewed in March – Lafayette’s Top Stories
(KMDL-FM) You know, Mother Nature could be setting us up for a big finish for March, right? Not like the basketball buzzer beaters, but the "in like a lamb out like a lion" thing, or did we already come in like a lion? See, you can't remember either, so we've put it all together for you. Here are the most viewed stories in Acadiana as dictated by you.

We opted to go with the most viewed because "most popular" might seem out of touch on a hard news story, and "most read" would imply that the articles were actually read and understood. Based on some of the comments that we've all seen on social media, there were probably a few times when that didn't happen.
This is not to imply that these were the only "big stories" to happen in March. Goodness knows, Patty in the Parc was a big event for a lot of families in South Louisiana. We certainly had a good time there.
We also got to be a tour stop on Family Adventure Day with Healing House, which is always fun for us, and we hope you enjoyed the chance to "look behind the curtain" at some of the things we do.

What Were Some of the most-viewed stories in Acadiana in March 2026?
But this isn't about us, it's about you. Here are the stories that captured your attention the most during March. Many of these stories can and will have updates, so do make sure you check back for those.
Here is the month that was: March 2026. Our most-viewed stories.
South Louisiana CIA Terror Plot Exposed, Maybe
If you were looking for James Bond-style drama in your own backyard, you didn't even have to move the patio chairs for this one. The fact that everything is so close really brings this story home, in fact, too close to home.

Tsunami Bankruptcy Reveals More Than Serving Sushi
Tsunami was the place that started Acadiana's love affair with sushi a few decades back. It was a place to see and a place to be seen. Times have changed, and so has a lot since those early days. After a bankruptcy filing, it was revealed that there was more than miso happening behind the shaded glass downtown.

Buc-ee's found itself back in the public consciousness in South Louisiana during March. Of course, in the Lafayette area, we are patiently waiting for our Buc-ee's to be built. That's still a year or so away. I think they are getting closer to being finished with the I-20 Buc-ee's planned near Ruston. But that's not why the "Beaver" was back in the headlines over the past few Weeks.
Buc-ee's Goes to Court - Alleges Copyright Infringement
In the world of reasonable people, we can all clearly see that these two logos look nothing like each other. However, in the world of corporate trademarks, where millions, if not billions can be made with a cartoon beaver or a cartoon moose, there can be no middle ground. Don't believe me, check out the story if you missed it.

Much has been written about the I-10 Bridge in Lake Charles. Unfortunately, not much good has been written about the bridge. Other than that, there are serious discussions about getting it replaced sooner rather than later. But that's not why the bridge raised our anxiety level in March. It was for a more spectacular reason. You've got to see the videos.
Dangling Danger- Truck Crash Closes I-10 Bridge in Lake Charles
As if the bridge itself was scary enough, now it comes with dangling drama. This truly seemed as if it were cut from an episode of an adventure movie or one of the 911 rescue shows.

And finally another story that garnered a lot of interest, probaby because it hit so close to home was the Consumer Product Safety Comission's recall of four popular products sold for children and sold for children in South Louisiana.
Urgent Recall: CPSC Says These 4 Children's Products Should Not Be in Your Home
That sums it up. The CPSC is asking parents and caregivers, especially caregivers, to be cognizant of this recall. There are refund and replacement instructions included. But if you have little ones or take care of little ones, even on the weekends, make sure you're aware of the recall.
