The recovery from Hurricane Season 2020 continues and for those who were affected and suffered damages in Hurricane Delta, there is good news. The federal government has approved a request to begin the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits for residents of five additional Louisiana Parishes.

Residents of Beauregard, Lafayette, Rapides, St. Landry, and St. Martin Parishes will be allowed to apply for those special benefits beginning Monday. The application window will run from Monday, November 16th through Friday, November the 20th.

Now, residents of Beauregard, Rapides, and St. Landry parishes who have already applied and are receiving DSNAP benefits for damages suffered in Hurricane Laura, that's the August hurricane, will not need to reapply. You will automatically receive a second month of benefits.

By the way, you can look for those benefits to show up on your DSNAP EBT Card on or about Tuesday, November 17th. If you've lost your EBT card or need a new one, you can obtain that by calling the LAHelpU Customer Service Center at 1-888-524-3578.

Remember the new application window that opens next week is for residents of Beauregard, Lafayette, Rapides, St. Landry, and St. Martin Parishes. The benefits had already been approved for residents of Acadia, Calcasieu, Cameron, Jefferson Davis, and Vermillion Parishes.

If you have questions or concerns or want to verify your eligibility you can visit The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services website. There you will find a list of frequently asked questions as well as the specific forms you might need to apply for those benefits for your family.
