Not many people may be aware that there is an election coming up on May 4, but early voting for this election actually starts Saturday.

If you are a voter in Lafayette Parish, there will be two tax renewals that will be on the ballot.

The first tax renewal would be for the continued work of the Teche-Vermilion Fresh Water District. It's a 1.5 mills property tax for ten years.

The second item on the ballot would be a renewal for the operations of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office. It's a 8.76 mills property renewal for ten years.

Early voting starts this Saturday, April 20 and runs through Saturday, April 27 with the exclusion of Easter Sunday, April 21.

Early voting starts each of those days at 8:30 and will run through 6 o'clock each evening.

If you wish to early vote, you go to the Lafayette Parish Registrar of Voter's Office which is located at 1010 Lafayette Street in Suite 313 inside of the Lafayette Parish Government Building.
