The U.S. Postal Service has temporarily suspended operations at the Eunice Post Office, which is located at 250 Laurel Avenue.

The reason for the closing is a bit vague.

"We apologize for any inconvenience that may be experienced. Currently, there is no timeline for resumption of operations at the Eunice Post Office. The Postal Service will provide regular updates to our customers as soon as information becomes available," a press release states.

The Developing Eunice Facebook page posted a flyer which indicates the closure is for "safety concerns."

Eunice customers may conduct retail transactions at the Lawtell Post Office located at 10207 Prejean Hwy, Lawtell, LA. P.O. Box customers also may pick up their mail at this location.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and Saturday, 8:30 am to 11:00 am.

Delivery operations have been temporarily moved to the Opelousas Post Office, however, Eunice customers should not see any change in their mail delivery service.

Customers can call 1-800-ASK-USPS or go to www.usps.com to get information about other nearby post offices.
