Feds Finally Release Flood Relief Money For Louisiana
Let me see if I remember this right from my history classes long, long ago. In the United States of America, we allegedly have a government that is "of the people, by the people, and for the people". Abraham Lincoln uttered those words in his famous Gettysburg Address.
Fast forward to present day America where our elected officials appear to be doing anything but what the Great Emancipator suggested our government do.
Why I am I so bent at the federal government?
It was just yesterday that the Housing and Urban Development finally released $1.6 billion in flood relief money for citizens of our state. If you live in north Louisiana you've waited over a year for the "for the people" part of the government to kick in.
In South Louisiana, you've waited seven months for the bureaucrats to remove their spreadsheets from their backsides and actually offer funding to help people that really need it.
Thanks, HUD! It's been very kind of you to sit by the wayside watching citizens of our nation and our state deal with this devastating natural disaster. I bet when you were in school you were that kid that used to eat lunch in front of the kids that couldn't afford lunch.
Alright, enough of my complaining about the fact that our federal government really doesn't give a rodent's rear end about you or me. The money is now available for dispersal.
In order for you to expedite relief funds for your particular situation, you need to do some things that will help you help yourself. One of the most important is completing an online survey that was just published yesterday.
This survey will help the overseers of the funding determine who needs the help the most. I guess better late than never huh?
