That means any trip that requires multiple fill-ups is now going to cost you an additional $15 to $20 or even more.

The American Automobile Association keeps track of fuel prices around the country, and lately we’ve all been watching those prices rise. The current national average price for a gallon of regular gas is listed at $4.52 by Triple A. Last year, that same gallon of fuel would have cost you $3.13.

What is the Current Average Price for a Gallon of Regular Gas in Louisiana?
In Louisiana, the numbers are staggering, but not as staggering as what many other drivers are seeing. In Louisiana, Triple A suggests that the average price for a gallon of regular is now $4.005, in other words, right at $4 bucks a gallon. Last year, you and I were paying about a dollar and thirty cents less per gallon.
The current military action in the Middle East is seen as the main reason for the sudden increase in fuel prices. The fact that there appears to be no end in sight for that conflict is one of the reasons that industry analysts say gas prices in Louisiana will not fall below the $3 a gallon mark this year.
What is the Record High Price for Gas?
In fact, some industry analysts suggest that if the conflict in the Middle East continues or expands, fuel prices close to $5 per gallon will become commonplace. The record for gas prices in the United States is $5.016 per gallon. That was set back in 2022. The highest price for a gallon of gas ever recorded in Louisiana was $4.557 per gallon. That was also set in June of 2022.
