Halloween night is great fun. The following morning, November 1st is not nearly so much fun. You can ask any parent or teacher of small children. The rush of collecting candy and the rush associated with massive sugar intake can really lead to some bad "kid crashes" the following day.

So, what's a parent to do?

One nutritionist is suggesting that before your kids take it to the streets tonight you should serve them a glass of chocolate milk.

It gives us carbs and carbs are used for energy, it gives us protein which means it stays in our stomachs for a while, and it is really loaded with the nutrients that kids can use.

Those are the words of nutritionist Althea Zanecosky as chronicled by the Louisiana Radio Network.

As counterintuitive as it may sound, giving chocolate to someone who is about to go out and collect chocolate, it really does make a lot of sense. The chocolate flavor helps to satiate the sweet tooth. This means your child might have a little less craving for the candy they've collected when they get home.

Milk is also very filling. So, your youngster won't feel hungry while walking around the neighborhood. This might prevent them from wanting to dip into their bag of collected candy before they make it back to the living room. Chocolate milk is also packed with vitamins and nutrients that kids need for the energy they are about to expend while on their Halloween hike.

Why don't you give it a try tonight and see for yourself? You can report back with your findings in the morning. Hopefully, it will be a morning made a bit easier because milk will do a body, even a dead and decaying body, good.
