Ready or not, the holidays are creeping up on us slowly but surely. That means folks everywhere are gearing up and events are starting to pop up.

The folks in Gonzales are ready to kick off their festivities with the grand opening of their Merry Market. The event kicks off this weekend, November 12th and 13th, with over 200 vendor booths in attendance.

These vendors will not only be businesses from the Baton Rouge area but some from out of town as well. They will all have an array of different merchandise to choose from. This includes jewelry, home décor, candles, toys, Christmas décor, food, bath and body products, art, and more.

One of the best parts of the event is for the kids. There will be Cookies & Crafts with Santa on both Saturday and Sunday. Santa will also be hanging around for the weekend for crafts, face painting, and other fun activities for the little ones.

General admission for the Merry Market will be $10 and children under 10 get in free. Any police officers who arrive dressed in uniform will enter for free. If you are a veteran, police officer, teacher, military, nurse, doctor, or in the medical field, make sure to bring your ID or badge and take 50% off your general admission ticket.

If you are planning to get your Christmas shopping on, make sure you get to the market early. The first 250 shoppers will receive a swag bag full of goodies.

A portion of the ticket proceeds will be donated to the Bella Bowman Foundation which supports pediatric brain cancer.
