Greedy Williams Out For LSU Bowl Game
Hey, his name is Greedy isn't it? The pursuit of big money in the NFL is the reason why the LSU defensive secondary might not be considered as strong as it was when the Tigers take the field New Year's Day in the Fiesta Bowl.
Greedy Williams, a cornerback for LSU, has declared for the NFL Draft. This means Williams won't be on the field as a player for LSU when Tigers take on Central Florida. Williams made the announcement yesterday shortly after it was announced that the Tigers had been invited to participate in the Fiesta Bowl.
LSU Head Coach Ed Orgeron said that he was aware that Williams had been contemplating declaring for the NFL and not playing in the bowl game. Said Orgeron of Williams decision,
We wish him and his family the best, obviously.
Orgeron's comments were reported by NOLA.com.
Williams is projected by many to be a first-round NFL selection. Some draft pundits have Williams rated as high as the fifth overall talent on the board. The declaration of Williams and a surgical procedure had by Kristian Fulton means that LSU will enter the game against undefeated Central Florida without their two starting cornerbacks.
Despite the fact that LSU's defense will be down a couple of players the Tigers are still a seven-point favorite over Central Florida in the game that will be played in Tempe Arizona on New Year's Day.
