For fans of the LSU Tigers it was is if Coach Les Miles finally saw what hundreds of thousands of the purple and gold faithful had been screaming about since last year. The subject of the fan's ire was the quarterback play from Brandon Harris.

Early in Saturday's game versus Jacksonville State obviously Coach Miles had finally seen enough too. After two very lackluster series in which the Harris led Tiger offense amassed 12 total yards Coach Miles decided to bring in Danny Etling a transfer from Purdue.

The switch turned on the switch for the Tiger offense. Etling promptly connected with LSU tight end DeSean Smith on a 46 yard scoring play. It was not all cake and bacon for Etling though. The junior did not complete a pass in the second half, unless you count the interception he threw. He also fumbled the ball.  However Etling's play in the second quarter at least gave the LSU faithful something positive.

Certainly the outcome of the game was positive as the Tigers downed the Gamecocks of Jacksonville State by a score of 34-13.

The Tiger defense was stout and for the second straight week and cornerback Tre'Davious White found the end zone on special teams. This time it was on a punt return in the 2nd quarter that put the Tigers up 27-10 at the half.

LSU fans will no doubt be keeping a watchful eye on official reports from the LSU athletic staff regarding the health of Leonard Fournette. Fournette did not play against Jacksonville State as he continued to recover from a lower leg injury.

Up next for LSU will be Mississippi State in the Southeastern Conference opener for LSU. The Bulldogs won their SEC opener Saturday night stopping South Carolina by a score of 27-14. The game will be played at Tiger Stadium with kickoff set for 6 PM. Both teams have an early season record of one win and one loss.
