
Home Goods Retailer with Louisiana Locations Filing for Bankruptcy?
(KMDL-FM) Financial restructuring, as much as that is happening in Louisiana and in the Gulf South, we should probably petition the International Olympic Committee to see if we can't get it included as a sport in the upcoming games. All kidding aside, we once again have the unfortunate task of reporting a potential bankruptcy for a national retailer with locations scattered about Louisiana.
The company currently operates locations in Lafayette, Kenner, Slidell, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport. And according to a report published by Bloomberg, the company is preparing to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the coming weeks.

Should the company take the step to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, it would be so that they can reorganize their finances and continue operations while they restructure their debt and create a plan to satisfy creditors. According to the Bloomberg report, the company missed targeted payments in May, and this caused a default on covenants in the company's credit agreements.
What this financial restructuring means for the 200 nationwide locations of At Home is unclear at this time. At Home is based out of Texas and offers furnishings, accessories, and other items for home decoration and enhancement.
What Other Businesses Have Filed for Bankruptcy or Closed This Year?
Should the anticipated bankruptcy filing come to fruition for At Home, it would follow in a wave of financial struggles and issues that several other national chains have been forced to deal with already.

You're probably well aware of the struggles of Rite Aid, CVS, Party City, and fabric retailer JOANN. All of those entities have either filed for bankruptcy or ceased doing business because of their current financial woes.
