The climate of retail shopping has been shaky at best for retailers across the country. And the folks behind the discount retailer Big Lots have been included in that number for the last several months.

In September, Big Lots announced it was filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The company also started closing stores across America, including our location on Ambassador Caffery in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Other locations in the state that have closed include Bossier City, Denham Springs, and Natchitoches.

Now, the company has announced yet another round of closures as they plan to shutter even more stores.

In total, 150 stores were listed in the company's legal filings last week.

Add that to the more than 350 stores closing. Some of those stores are in their final days, with big discounts of as much as 70% off.

(But some people don't think the discounts aren't big enough.)

Of the new round of store closures, four are in Louisiana. Below is a list of the newly listed stores to close in the Bayou State:

  • Baton Rouge: 6900 Siegen Lane
  • Chalmette: 8700 W Judge Perez Drive
  • Marrero: 5005 Lapalco Boulevard
  • Shreveport: 1293 Shreveport Barksdale Highway

Overall, amongst all the rounds of store closures announced, Texas was hit the hardest. That state is losing 23 of its Big Lots locations.
