I recently read a great quote that impressed me so much I put it on my Facebook page. "Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy ice cream and some days that's as close as you're going to get." I do love ice cream. I like it just about any shape or form and that was today's Foodie Friday project for Chef Jill McCoy.

Jill and I were discussing ice cream and our mutual affection for the creamy confection when she suggested that this week instead of firing things up, she would chill things down. The result of that chill down is a unique twist on a familiar favorite.

This ice cream cake is made even more nostalgic by the leading flavors that power the profile of goodness across your palate. The ice cream is flavored with Nutella. That's a taste that almost any kid can identify with. I used to think of Nutella as gourmet peanut butter. It's actually a hazelnut spread. When you mix it with a decadent ice cream and Biscotti cookies you have an international treat that feels right at home in South Louisiana .

I have to admit this is a bit of departure from our regular Foodie Friday fare. Usually Chef Jill likes to focus on foods that are not only delicious but healthy. This is not a recipe that you will put in your healthy recipes file. It is truly a treat.

For me, the preparation was a little more labor intensive than I like  when I cook but if you're making this a weekend project or a cooking up some romance it is certainly well worth the time.

While some of the steps might seem a little tedious to the novice in the kitchen the good news is you can't really screw it up. It might look hard to do but you'll get great results even if you're just in the ballpark.

This is a great recipe to make for a special "I Love You", or an "I'm Sorry", or "I Accidentally Drove Your Car Into A Starbucks" moment. This glorious ice cream cake will help you melt the coldness of someone's heart or help you warm up their romantic side because you cared enough to make something so beautiful and so delicious.
