Update 4:25 p.m. Monday: Louisiana State Police say Interstate 49 southbound at La. 29 (exit 40) is now open. Northbound remains closed at La. 10 (exit 27).


10:04 a.m. Monday: Louisiana State Police have closed Interstate 49 at Louisiana Highway 10 which is at exit 27 due to an overturned tanker truck. They say both northbound and southbound directions of the interstate will be closed today ( Monday, Feb. 25th ) for several hours while they work to clean up the mess.

State Police have also been forced to shut down Interstate 49 southbound at exit 40 due to the tanker accident.

State Police are asking drivers to avoid these areas for the next several hours as the debris is cleared from the interstate.
