An Opelousas man is behind bars after a single-vehicle crash this weekend that killed one and hospitalized two others.

Driver Nicholas Lafleur, 28, lost control of the truck on Highway 105 while carrying 54-year-old Judy Stelly of Opelousas — who was pronounced dead at the hospital — along with 41-year-old Andrea Lacombe of Walker and a 7-year-old child. Lacombe is in critical condition; the child received moderate injuries.

Louisiana State Police say Lafleur submitted to a breathalyzer test and clocked in above the legal limit. He was booked into the St. Landry Parish jail for DWI, vehicular homicide, two counts vehicular negligent Injuring, reckless operation and two counts of no seatbelt.

None of the four passengers was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
