Acadiana answered the call.

Piece of Cake Lafayette recently heard the story about Emmalyn Grace, who is from Youngsville, and the staff there knew they had to do something to help her family.

The little girl was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, which has also entered her bone marrow.

Emmy and her parents will soon be heading to St. Jude for treatment, but before that, the Lafayette community came to support them.

The bakery set a goal to sell 2,000 cake balls, with $2 from every sale going toward the family of Emmy.

Well, we have some good news to report and that is Piece of Cake Lafayette reports to us that they sold over 2,000 cake balls in just one day.

They will still have products in their store, at 1507 Kaliste Saloom Rd., to sell which will benefit Dillon and Chrystal, the parents of Emmy.

I want to note here that several businesses and business people in the Lafayette community walked into the bakery on Friday and wrote checks out for the family, without even making a purchase. The support has been overwhelming.

Other benefits are being planned around Acadiana for the Youngsville family and we will share them here when we get more information.

For now, if you'd like to support Emmy's journey, you can visit Piece of Cake Lafayette or make a donation to the GoFundMe that has been set up for the family.

I just want to take a second here and say that we all here at Townsquare Media are behind Emmy's journey and we are all praying for her as she begins treatment.

And this is why we will ALWAYS ask you to support St. Jude during our annual Radiothon and become a Partner in Hope.
