If you're in the service industry you may have picked up on a recent trend and that trend is that younger folks aren't drinking as much in bars and clubs.
In a recent article, bar owners and club owners were saying that younger patrons (of the legal drinking age) just aren't drinking as much while out, and some are even electing to not even go out.
One bar owner thinks that Gen Z is pre-gaming at home, and that includes consuming edibles, so when they do get out they aren't purchasing anything from the bar because they are already under the influence.
While this assumption may seem outlandish to some, he is right according to some in the demographic.
After this report surfaced, many Gen Z'ers elected to go on TikTok and explain why they aren't drinking as much while out.
Some of those that we came across on the social media platform say that it is just too expensive to drink while out these days.
One person said that she was out recently and it cost her over $50 for two drinks and a shot, and that was just too much for her.
Now some who are electing to no longer go out are saying that bars and clubs are not taking into account that they are broke, and those saying this seem angry about the lack of consideration by venues.
And while some may be able to afford a night out, others can't and this user on TiikTok has seen enough.

To end this discussion is worth noting that I receall reading a study a few years back about Gen Z and they believe that alcohol consumption is a contributing factor to "bad mental health", "anxiety" and "abuse."
Thus, that is why many say they've eliminated the expense from their life.
