Why Louisiana Women Might Enjoy Galentine’s Day More Than Valentine’s Day
Louisiana women might enjoy Galentine's Day more than Valentine's Day. It's just a thought or theory. Does Galentine's Day become unfair to men if women would rather celebrate Galentine's Day on February 13 with all of their friends to show them love than celebrate Valentine's Day with their spouse or partner? Or can you do both?
What Is Galentine's Day?
Galentine's Day is a day set aside to show love to your friends. And according to Cosmopolitan, it's a day where you can celebrate with your friends any way you want.
Celebrating any kind of way you want sounds like it takes a little bit of the pressure off of us on what do I have to get my spouse or partner to show them that I love them?
Simply put, It's a day for women to celebrate their friendships with women.
Can Anyone Celebrate Galentine's Day?
You don't have to be single to celebrate Galentine's Day! It's just a day set aside to show your friends how much you love and care for them.
The idea of celebrating your female friends really started to take off with people after an episode of "Parks and Recreation." After that episode, the concept just spread, and now people get together to honor their friends.
Is Galentine's Day Better Thank Valentine's Day?
That's all up to you. One author in the Yorkshire Bylines says it is better because it's a way for women to uplift other women. Gemma Gould sums it up by saying that when we set aside a day to recognize each other, that's when "we all rise together."
Kim, from the Edit Lifestyle, makes some funny but great points about women getting together to celebrate how much they care for each other. She points out that you don't have to dress up to celebrate Galentine's Day, and "You can be totally weird together with no explanation."
At Marriage.com, they point out that it's essential to set aside a day to appreciate our female friends and the platonic love we have for one another. Dr. Jennifer Jaconsen says,
....we’re not just choosing between types of love to celebrate; we’re affirming that friendships among women are a source of empowerment and happiness, deserving of their own spotlight.
Valentine's Day Can Be Tough For Single People
When everyone is talking about their spouse or partner, and you are single, it can feel isolating. With Galentine's Day, you can celebrate with all of your female friends. Also, others say Valentine's Day has become too commercialized, whereas Galantine's Day can be much less formal and expensive.
Many people also feel that there are too many expectations that you must spend money to enjoy Valentine's Day or that your spouse or partner will expect you to spend plenty of money.
Why Can't We Just Do Both?
Instead of worrying about celebrating one or the other, why not just celebrate both? Hopefully, you will have a relationship where your spouse supports your friendships.
Galentine's Day also works out well for men because that's one night where y'all can hire a babysitter. You can hang out with your besties, and he can do the same.
