Southern University’s campus is on lockdown following a shooting inside a residential hall on Sunday evening, according to school officials.

UPDATE:

Officials are looking for a person of interest in the on-campus shooting at Southern University.

Reports from WAFB and WBRZ both confirm the incident occurred at Ulysses S. Jones Hall around 6:30-7:00 p.m. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots from the second floor, and police have since blocked entry to that area.

One person was taken to the hospital, though their condition remains unknown. It is unclear whether the victim is a student.

Campus police have described a possible suspect as a Black male wearing a black hoodie with rhinestones and dark pants.

Students and faculty have been advised to remain indoors until an all-clear is issued. Authorities have not yet released details on what led to the shooting.

This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
