Marketwatch.com has just named Lafayette,La the "Happiest City In America"!  A total of 6 Louisiana cities made the top 12, including Homa, Shreveport-Bossier Alexandria, Lake Charles and Baton Rouge. But, believe it or not, there's actually a downside to this we'll get to later.

The most unhappy city in the country? New York City.

Louisiana is also the happiest state in the country as well.

From marketwatch.com -

"That’s according to data coming from a working paper by Harvard professor Edward Glaeser, Vancouver School of Economics professor Joshua Gottlieb and Harvard doctoral student Oren Ziv. They used data collected in a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention survey called the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, and then adjusted it for age, sex, race, income and other factors. (Such adjustments are important — women, for instance, are happier than men; the married are happier than single or divorced respondents; and so on.)"

OK, so what could possibly be the downside of living in the happiest city in America? Living in an unhappy city apparently gets you a better house, according to marketwatch.com. Also, rent is much higher in happier cities.
