So, it wasn't surprising for a lot of Louisiana football fans to expect the best of the worst from Roger Goodell and the NFL hierarchy when terms like "conspiracy" and "sabotage" were being thrown around by attorneys representing Saints owner Gayle Benson.

Look, we have all seen the "alleged missed calls" that always seem to go against the Saints during the NFL Playoffs. We all know that Roger Goodell doesn't care for New Orleans and the feeling between Saints fans and Goodell is mutual.

But this fight involving Mrs Benson isn't with the NFL it's with another multi-national corporation, namely Nissan-Infiniti. If you weren't aware the Benson family has earned its fortune through car dealerships. The Benson Group had recently announced plans to acquire several new dealerships from the estate of Ray Brandt, another well-known Louisiana car dealer.

But the acquisition of two of those dealerships involving sales of Nissan and Infiniti automobiles in D'Iberville Mississippi and Metairie, Louisana, have been thwarted by a rival car dealer. The Benson legal team is suggesting that rival dealer Matt Bowers used his influence with Nissan and Infiniti's "top brass" to block the sale to the Benson Group.

According to reports, Nissan and Infiniti decided to invoke a "right of first refusal" to cancel the sale to the Benson Group. It's not uncommon for a manufacturer to use that clause when deciding what owner to offer a dealership to. The Benson Group has filed a letter with the Louisiana Department of Motor Vehicles suggesting that the Bowers Group conspired and sabotaged the Benson Group's effort to secure those properties.

Needless to say, the courts will have to make an ultimate choice in the matter. According to sources, this is just one of many issues that have been a part of the drama surrounding the sale of the former Ray Brandt Auto Group. However, attorneys for Matt Bowers and his group expect the deal with Nissan and Infiniti to move forward and close sooner rather than later.
