It all started at 8 this morning when administrators at Youngsville Middle School heard from a parent that their step-son may have had a weapon in his possession.  Law enforcement officials on site were notified and they worked with school officials to investigate.

After looking into the claim, administrators and Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Officers say there was no evidence that there was ever a weapon on school grounds.  In addition, they wanted to stress that at no time was there any threat to the safety of students on campus.

School officials told KPEL News that there was never a lockdown at the school this morning when the incident occurred.
