Lafayette Parish Waterworks District North has issued a boil advisory effective immediately.

Due to a loss of pressure in the system, Lafayette Parish Waterworks District North has issued a boil advisory until further notice.

The low system pressure is causing a question over what Lafayette Parish Waterworks District North describes as the "microbiological quality" of the water, hence the boil advisory.

KATC reports Lafayette Parish customers under the boil advisory are those who live "on the north by I-10, bounded on the south by Landry Road, bounded on the east by Jenkins Road and on the west by Hanks Road."

The advisory recommends customers under the boil advisory disinfect their water before consuming it, brushing teeth, drinking it, cooking it, freezing it for ice etc.

How To Properly Disinfect Water If Under Boil Advisory

Bring water to a rolling boil for one minute. The one minute begins only once the water begins its rolling boil.
