If you weren't aware this is festival week in Acadiana. Not just Festival International in downtown Lafayette but there are events all over the place. Church Point will host Cajun Woodstock this weekend. Parks will host the Cracklin Cook-Off. Arnauldville will celebrate Etoufee this weekend. Abbeville will Stir the Pot this weekend and Breaux Bridge will have a Spring Fling. You need to know whether to bring sunscreen or an umbrella.

Sunscreen would probably be the preferred accessory for almost all of these events. It does look as if we are going to make up for an icy Mardi Gras and a wet St. Patty's Day with a string of springlike days to celebrate this week.

The current forecast from KATC's Daniel Phillips has only minimal rain chances for later in the week. That means the chance of showers is less than 20%. Temperatures during the day should move slightly above 80 degrees through the next couple of days and that means warm enough for t-shirts and hot enough to make you thirsty. Don't forget they sell water at the festivals too, not just beer.

The sun will be filtered by some overhead cloudiness but even on a cloudy day you still need to apply sunscreen especially if you're going to be outside for extended periods of time.

The next significant chance of rain will be on Monday, although sometimes the long range forecast is subject to change.
