The threat of severe storms is topping the Lafayette weather headlines this morning. According to KATC TV 3 Chief Meteorologist Rob Perillo a robust storm system will move through the area over the next 24 hours and conditions are favorable for some strong storms.

As of now the timing of the strongest storms appears to be in a window between 8pm tonight and 3am on Thursday.  The Storms Prediction Center predicts a slight risk of severe weather over the next 24 hour period. We can certainly anticipate some heavy downpours in the stronger storms too.

The good news is that once this system has passed through the area skies will clear and the weather should be great for Rhythms on the River Thursday Night, Downtown Alive on Friday and the Louisiana Cajun Food Fest in Kaplan on Saturday.
