A strong cold front is currently situated over Central Texas this early Monday morning. It is expected to bring the threat of severe weather to the area by later this evening. The Storm Prediction Center lists the threat of severe weather in Acadiana as slight. Although that risk is elevated to moderate for those living in central and northern sections of the state.

The current timing on the strongest storms shows that western sections of our state could begin to feel the impact of an approaching squall line as early as 3pm. If the timing holds true on the forecast models most of Acadiana will be under the gun during the afternoon drive and into the early evening hours. The threat of severe weather should move east  of the area by 9pm tonight.

The current forecast from Dave Baker in the KATC Weather Lab says that most of us will experience rain and thunderstorms, some could be severe by late this afternoon. Tonight skies will begin to clear with the passage of the cold front. Temperatures will also begin to fall.

The outlook for the rest of the work week is spectacular. Overnight low temperatures should settle into the upper 50's while day time high temperatures will be in the 70's for Tuesday and Wednesday. By Thursday and Friday temperatures will moderate some but conditions should remain pleasant into the weekend.
