Lafayette Woman Dies After Hit-And-Run Crash
The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Department says they are continuing to look into a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened early Monday morning.
Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Valerie Ponseti says Sheina Evans died a local hospital yesterday after she was hit by a vehicle. Evans was just standing outside of her own home when she was hit. The person responsible, according to Ponseti, got out of the car and ran away.
Deputies were later able to track down 32-year-old Jose Vazquez-Tursios was ultimately booked into the Lafayette jail on the following charges:
- Negligent Homicide
- Hit-and-run Driving
- Driver Must Be Licensed
Evans was 67-years-old. All of this happened in the 300 block of Marigny Circle.
