It's something most of us never stop to think about. We give the server at a restaurant our credit card, the server takes the card, swipes in the transaction and returns the card to us with a receipt to sign. That's the way it's supposed to work.

However, if you've dined at a Landry's Restaurant or one of their associated brands you might want to double-check your credit card statement. The company has sent out a warning to consumers of a potential data breach involving credit cards used to make transactions at their locations.

If you'd like to see which brands were affected by the potential breach you can check that out here. Houston-based Landry's operates Landry's Seafood House, Saltgrass Steakhouse, and nearly 60 other restaurant brands.

Officials with the restaurant say the potential breach may have occurred when staff members used devices to enter orders instead of what’s used to pay out customers.

Those order entry devices do not have the same security technology as the payout devices. The company says credit cards that were swiped between March 13 and October 17, 2019, were the only transactions affected.
