LHSAA Select Schools Vote To Form New Group

Just weeks before the start of the high school football season, the select-school members of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association have voted to create a subgroup within the larger organization.

The Advocate reports that two-thirds of the LHSAA's select schools voted this morning to form the Louisiana Select Association during a meeting at Teurlings Catholic High School in Lafayette. Seventy-one of the state's 108 select schools were in attendance, with 66 voting to ratify the new LSA bylaws.

Last January, the full LHSAA membership voted to allow select schools to host their own separate state championship events. Right now, select school championships are contested along with the non-select titles during the LHSAA's championship events (the Sugar Bowl Prep Classic, Top 28, etc.).
