National Food Site Reveals Louisiana’s Top Picnic Destination
(KMDL-FM) It might be one of the most relaxing words in the English language: picnic. Just reading it, did you think of a beautiful day, a red checkered blanket, and something delicious from a straw basket? It would seem the only thing missing would be the perfect spot to have that picnic, right?
The editors of Tasting Table, an Internet food, drink, and lifestyle page, have created a list of the Best Picnic Spots in Each of the 50 States, so naturally we were intrigued to see what they picked for Louisiana.

Let me describe it to you; see if you can figure it out. It's next to water, and there is a beach. There are shaded areas provided by huge moss-covered oak trees. They have picnic tables, fire pits, and if you just decide you don't want to leave, you could actually rent a cabin and stay the night.
Louisiana's Best Picnic Spot is Located in One Of The State's Most Beautiful Parks

I am sure many of you might be thinking Cypremort Point, and while that's a wonderful place for relaxing, the editors at Tasting Table were thinking of another state park that features a beach. Their choice for the Best Picnic Spot in Louisiana was the Beach at Fontainebleau State Park.
The park does have all the amenities that anyone looking for a relaxing picnic spot would want. Sure, it's hot, but there is shade. If you need to do some cooking, there are facilities for that, and of course there is always the beach.
Before You Go - Check This One Thing to Ensure the Safety of Your Family
Now, before you go into the water at the Beach at Fontainebleau State Park, make sure you check the Louisiana Department of Health Beach Safety Advisories. Unfortunately, as of this report, that beach is under an advisory, but so is Cypremort Point, so maybe your picnic could wait a week or two?
The beach advisories are for higher-than-normal bacteria levels in the water. That could be very dangerous for people who might have open sores, cuts, or wounds, or for someone whose immune system has been compromised.

But if you're just going for a picnic, or if you can wait until we get cooler weather in the state, then you can go and really enjoy all that is Louisiana's Best Picnic Spot.
