Valentine's Day is descending on Louisiana much like the threat of showers and severe storms. At least in the case of a potential severe weather threat from Lake Charles to Alexandria to Shreveport, we know that will be over in a day or so. However, a well-intentioned faux pas on Valentine's Day can land a lover in the doghouse for several weeks if not many months.

Valentine's Day is not Christmas. In other words, you can't just rely on "it's the thought that counts". When it comes to Valentine's the thought, the intention, the hidden meanings all matter. And to make this an even more difficult chore, if you whiff on just one of those, thoughts, intention, or meaning, your plans for a romantic evening, and in the case of Valentine's this year, a romantic weekend could hit the kids fairly quickly.

I think that's the reason why so many men have an issue with Valentine's Day. There is truly only one correct "gift" and if you get that wrong, the day just won't go as planned. Fortunately, a lot of our "Valentines" understand that we fellows are not educated in the finer points of pitching woo.
