Louisiana Energy Drink Lovers Don’t Snooze – 3 Flavors Going Away
I was at a ShopRite store in Crowley, Louisiana the day I heard the news about Twinkies. Do you remember hearing that Twinkies were going away and collectively as a junk food nation we were all saddened? As a kid, a Twinkie was my "energy drink". It provided a needed sugar boost for my adolescent attitude to cope with the problems of being a teenager in the 70s and 80s.
For today's kids and adults, they don't use Twinkies like I did. You are more likely to see a young adult downing an energy boost in the form of a carbonated energy drink. All you have to do is look around college campuses at LSU, the University of Louisiana, and McNeese State to realize we are all sleep-deprived and are doing everything we can to bolster our own internal energy systems to make it through the day.
Energy drinks account for about $88.9 billion in economic impact around the world. What was once the singular domain of coffee is now home to Monster, Rockstar, Celsius, and Red Bull. Our focus today is on the world's leading energy drink, Red Bull.
If you're a fan of certain flavors of Red Bull you better start stocking up now because the giant beverage maker is reportedly planning to remove three flavors of its popular energy drink brand from the the consumer market.
But before you start moping and shaking where you stand let us assure you that what the Red Bull taketh away, the Red Bull will replace with something different, something flavorful, and most importantly, something that sells better.
A popular snack influence on Instagram who goes by snachwithzach on the Instagram platform is reporting that Red Bull will be discontinuing Green Edition Dragon Fruit, Peach Nectarine, and Blueberry Blue Edition. If you're a fan of those flavors you might want to stock up now at your favorite store.
However, it probably stands to reason that the flavors aren't that popular. But if you do like them just know, according to snachwithzach on Instagram, that there are already replacements in the works.
The Dragon Fruit will be replaced by Caroba Elder Flower, which sounds way to bougie to be sold in any store in Louisiana. The Peach Nectarine is "sort of" being replaced by White Peach, although that's not confirmed. And the Blueberry Blue Edition is being replaced by Iced Vanilla Berry.
Again, there has been no official word from Red Bull but snachwithzach has been very accurate in his reports in the past and we see no reason to not believe that his sources are once again providing good information for consumers.
I think the more difficult task for these energy drink makers is going to be less about flavors and more about coming up with catchy names to trick us into trying the new flavors. Let's just say, at least in my opinion, some of the flavors don't live up to their names and for the love of God, has anyone in the beverage industry ever actually tasted a real strawberry or a grape? No? I didn't think so.
