Louisiana Lottery Confirms $50,000 Powerball Win Monday
From their offices in Baton Rouge the Louisiana Lottery has confirmed via their website that a Louisiana-sold ticket for Monday night's Powerball drawing is a big money winner. Monday night's multi-state Powerball drawing featured a top prize of $142.6 million. That was the estimated annuitized jackpot. The lump sum payout that was forecast for Monday's Powerball game was $67.9 million.
Powerball had not produced a "big-money" win in Louisiana in quite a while. The most recent win before Monday's $50,000 hit happened on July 13th. In that drawing a ticket sold at a Racetrac Convenience Store on Burbank Drive in Baton Rouge matched four of the five white ball numbers to win $50,000.
According to the Louisiana Lottery Unclaimed Prizes tab, the $50,000 winner from July 13th has not been claimed. There is also another $50,000 winner that was sold in New Orleans for the March 18th drawing that will expire in 46 days. And yet another $50,000 winner was sold for the April 6th drawing. That ticket was also sold in the Greater New Orleans area and it will expire in 65 days or October 3rd.
Now, enough about money that people don't want, let's check your Powerball ticket(s) from Monday night, July 29, 2024.
The numbers that we saw roll out of the hopper for Monday's drawing were:
11 27 30 33 44 Powerball 16 Power Play x3
Use those numbers for reference but please verify your tickets at the Official Powerball Website or the Official Louisiana Lottery Website. Both of those sites allow you to enter multiple ticket numbers and confirm prizes. They also have information on how to claim your prize should you be fortunate enough to cash a winner.
As of this report, the Louisiana Lottery has confirmed that other than the $50,000 winner Monday's Powerball was not that lucrative for Louisiana Powerball players. Only nine tickets sold statewide earned a prize of more than $7 bucks. There were five $100 winners and four $300 winners.
Speaking of winners the Louisiana Lottery tells us that the $50,000 Powerball winner was purchased in Slidell, Louisiana at Lishman's City Market on Pontchartrain Drive. If you played Powerball there for Monday night, please check your ticket.
Meanwhile, tonight's Mega Millions lottery drawing will feature a top prize of $331 million for the annuitized jackpot. The lump sum payout would be $156.2 million should you be fortunate enough to purchase a ticket that matches all the numbers drawn. Tonight's Mega Millions lottery draw is set for 10 p.m. Louisiana time.
