(Baton Rouge, LA) According to information from the Louisiana Lottery, the newly revamped format of the popular multi-state lottery game Mega Millions is paying off in a big way. The Mega Millions game has switched from "drawing" a multiplier for each drawing to assigning a random multiplier for every ticket sold. One of the big winners in Tuesday's drawing was a Louisiana ticket that featured a "10X" multiplier.

Recent history with Mega Millions has revealed a nice winning streak for Louisiana players. Just a few weeks ago a ticket sold in Shreveport earned a prize of $20,000. A $30,000 winner was made recently on a ticket sold in Leesville. Baton Rouge was the site of another $30,000 winner the ticket was sold around the first of the year.

What Are the Changes in the 'New' Mega Millions Lottery Game?

The Louisiana Lottery reminds players that Mega Millions does have a new purchase price for those wanting to participate in the drawings. Instead of two dollars for a regular ticket or three dollars for a ticket with the "Megaplier" you'll have to plunk down five dollars. But you are guaranteed a multiplier of at least "2X" which could go as high as "10X" which was the case for Tuesday's Louisiana winner.

Here is how the Mega Millions drawing unfolded on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

Mega Millions host John Crowe announced Tuesday's estimated annuitized top prize for the evening to be $96 million. But, through our sources at Mega Millions, we have confirmed no ticket matched the numbers needed to claim that prize.

There were two separate tickets both sold in New York state that did match all five of the white balls. In that case, the prize is a cool one million dollars. But under the new rules of the "enhanced" Mega Millions game those million-dollar wins were all multiplied.

The multiplier on one ticket was "2X" which means the total prize won is $2 million. On the other, the multiplier assigned was "4X" which means that the total prize amount was $4 million. Not bad for a $5 investment, huh?

Our source at the Louisiana Lottery confirmed that 68 tickets sold in Louisiana had their prize winnings multiplied by "10" in last night's drawing. Three of those tickets earned a prize of $100. However, the largest prize won by a Louisiana ticket for Tuesday's game was a $1,000 winner which under the game's old rules would have only earned a prize of $200. The ticket's purchaser had a "5X" multiplier assigned to their ticket.

The next Mega Millions drawing will take place on Friday night. The estimated annuitized jackpot is expected to be $112 million. Meanwhile, your next chance to become an instant millionaire will take place tonight with the Powerball drawing.

Guy Fieri has made several stops in Louisiana, but unfortunately, not all the hotspots he hits have long-term success. Here are the unfortunate ones that didn't last.
