It will be quite the night in Nashville this evening for one Acadiana native as country singer James Dupré will be making his debut on the hallowed stage at the Grand Ole Opry.

Dupré, originally from Bayou Chicot, is part of an excellent lineup. Also on the bill tonight are Opry members The Oak Ridge Boys and The Gatlin Brothers and current country star Scotty McCreery.

Tonight's show starts at 7:00 p.m. and is broadcast on the famous WSM in Nashville.

About James Dupré

We first met Dupré back in 2010 after his YouTube videos gained the attention of Ellen Degeneres and her daytime talk show.

He was invited onto the show to perform and soon after that, his career took off.

A former paramedic, Dupré moved to Nashville and signed a development deal with Warner Nashville.

Unfortunately, that deal didn't turn out too fruitful. So in 2015, he found himself competing during Season 9 of The Voice

He landed on Adam Levine's team but would be eliminated during the Knockout Round.

But this experience onscreen helped turn into more time in front of cameras as Dupré made his acting debut in a movie called The Price.

It was during that movie that he met and later became close friends with country legend Randy Travis. Sadly, shortly after that filming, Travis had his terrible stroke.

Dupré would later go on tour with Travis' band, singing the latter's hits from his illustrious career. Dupré still performs those shows as well as continuing to record and release his own music and perform at his own shows.
