A Louisiana teen has been arrested after he says he "woke up angry" and then shot and killed his mother and the family dog.

Louisiana Teen Shoots and Kills His Mother and Dog

Johnathan Payne Kliebert, 19 of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, is currently in custody after calling authorities and admitting to shooting and killing his mother and dog.

Kliebert told police that he "woke up in an angry state" in the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

By his own admission, Kliebert woke up, grabbed a shotgun, and then shot and killed his mother and the family dog while they slept.

"He told the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office that he murdered his mother, 46-year-old Ashley Kliebert, at her home in the Ponchatoula area, an hour outside of New Orleans.

Sheriff Daniel Edwards wrote in a Facebook post that Kliebert made the 911 call while he was at a hospital waiting to turn himself in. Authorities responded to the call and apprehended the teen while other officers drove to the suspect’s mother’s house."

Johnathan Payne Kliebert Accused Of First Degree Murder

Kliebert is currently at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on first-degree murder.

While in custody, themessenger.com reports that Kliebert confessed to numerous other crimes.

As a result, Kliebert has officially been charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery, cruelty to animals, and aggravated crimes.
