Ragin' Cajun football fans have known their 2014 opponents for awhile. However, they learned today what week, what day, and what television coverage they'd have, as the 2014 official football schedule was released.

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns football team kick-off their season with two straight home games against in-state foes, as well as playing back to back Tuesday night games in October.

After beginning with two road games against Arkansas and Kansas State in 2013, the defending Sun Belt Conference champion Cajuns will remain at home in the swamp for their first two opponents. Southern comes to Cajun field August 30th, followed by a showdown with Louisiana Tech on September 6th. It'll mark the first matchup in 10 years between the Cajuns and Bulldogs, and the first time since 2003 that Louisiana Tech will visit Lafayette.

"I think it's great for our fans to have two home games right out of the blocks, and I think that will create a lot of excitement," said head coach Mark Hudspeth in a press release.

Following the two-game home stand, the Cajuns will travel to Ole Miss (Sep. 13) and Boise State (Sep. 20) in consecutive weeks, before enjoying an open date.

"Our non-conference home schedule features two tremendous in-state programs in Southern and Louisiana Tech, and our games at Ole Miss and Boise State will provide us with the opportunity to play against some of the top teams in college football while continuing to grow a national following," said athletic director Scott Farmer in a press release.

Following the September 27th open date, it's Sun Belt Conference play the rest of the way for Louisiana. Saturday, October 4th, they'll play host to the Georgia State Panthers. Ten days later, they'll play the first of two Tuesday night games that will be televised by ESPN2. October 14th, the Cajuns will play at Texas State. A week later, they'll host Arkansas State in a Tuesday night Cajun field showdown between defending conference champions.

A week and a half later, Louisiana will play host to South Alabama (Nov. 1), before traveling back to back Saturdays. November 8th marks a trip to Las Cruces, New Mexico, for a battle with New Mexico State. A week later the Cajuns travel to Monroe for a rivalry matchup with ULM.

Louisiana will play their last regular season home game November 22nd, as they play host to new conference member Applachian State. The Cajuns end their regular season with a trip to Troy on November 29th.

"Having six home games this season is another big boost. With five Saturday games and a nationally-televised Tuesday night contest, we will get a chance to showcase our University and our great city," says Hudspeth. "It will be a great schedule and it will be a lot of fun for our fans."
