At my house it's always black eyed peas for luck, and cabbage for money on New Year's Day, and I wouldn't dream of getting through January 1 without those two things on my menu! Actually I'm very superstitious about them, so, yes, I have already bought the ingredients to kick off my 2014!

But in other countries, 'good luck' foods are not the same as ours. Did you know Spanish and Portuguese people eat twelve grapes at midnight, to symbolize the twelve months of the new year?
