The parent company of Red Baron, Schwan's, unveiled the new sweepstakes promotion earlier this week. And while it certainly seems and sounds impressive, as someone who has spent more than a few minutes enjoying, contemplating, and improving frozen pizzas, I think you're going to be disappointed.

No, I don't think quality or quantity of toppings will be the issue; I think the bigger issue will be sensory overload. There is no way you can taste all 50 toppings individually, so my personal evaluation would be: eat this around your dog. Because you are going to be dropping toppings in almost every bite.

As we've mentioned, Red Baron has been around as a frozen pizza brand for 50 years. They, along with DiGiorno and Totino's, control the bulk of the frozen pizza market in the United States. Pepperoni is by far the most popular frozen pizza topping in the United States, followed by sausage and extra cheese.

You might be wondering, as I was, whether there are even 50 things I would consider putting on a pizza? And evidently the folks at Red Baron believe there are. The pie will feature eight different kinds of cheese, multiple varieties of pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, and ham.

The veggie lineup includes mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, spinach, and a mix of peppers spanning green, red, jalapeño, and diced green chili. Carrots, cilantro, and pineapple.

The toppings are spread out evenly across the crust of the pie and not stacked up as you might see in other less robust pizzas. The idea is to create balance so when you go to stick a slice in your mouth, it won't fall completely apart.
