(KMDL-FM) All across South Louisiana, friends and family are preparing to gather together for a day of Thanksgiving. That great feast is officially a week away, and following the turkey, dressing, dessert, and indigestion, we will be full-blown into the Christmas season. And that means it must be time for Louisiana's most magical holiday light park to open its gates and welcome visitors.

Louisiana has many holiday attractions that draw families from far and wide. Some of our more popular attractions include the celebration in Natchitoches, Louisiana. That Christmas party was so popular that it was included in the film Steel Magnolias a few decades ago.

We realize many of you have experienced Natchitoches at Christmas in the past, but not nearly as many of you have experienced Lumiere. Lumiere is opening for its second holiday season, and they have taken the lessons learned from last year and promise to make this year's holiday display an even more memorable experience for your family.

Where Can You See Louisiana's Tallest Christmas Tree?

And while Lumiere does feature a 1/2-mile-long holiday light trail, those lights are just a small part of what is waiting for your family as of this Friday. Of course, the anchor display at Lumiere is the 72-foot-tall Christmas Tree. I believe it's the tallest in the state. I could be wrong, but at one point in time, it was. It is covered in lights and absolutely gorgeous when placed against the backdrop of the dark December sky.

For those who like to shop, Lumiere has a fabulous holiday market that's filled with holiday gifts, gift ideas, and locally produced merchandise and treats. There is also a light maze, similar to the corn mazes of Halloween, but laid out in holiday lights.

Visitors to Lumiere might also try the Open-Air Jumpers that allow the kids and the young at heart to bounce skyward and burn off some of those holiday cookies. And there is also a Snow Tubing Slide, it's bigger and better this year, and the folks at Lumiere say they use real snow, too.

When Will Lumiere Open and What Are the Hours of Operation?

Lumiere will open for guests on Friday, November 21, 2025. The facility is open Monday through Thursday from 5 pm to 9 pm. The hours are expanded to 5 pm to 10 pm on Friday and Saturday, and on weekdays when school is not in session.

Lumiere is located in Stonewall, Louisiana, at 1225 Lumiere Lane. It is a few hours' drive north of I-10 between Natchitoches and Shreveport.  Tickets are reasonably priced, and they allow price breaks for younger members of the family, too. Season passes are also available, which could invoke even more savings.
