(KMDL-FM) As sure as there are beads of purple, green, and gold. And as sure as there are barricades that all drive us crazy. There will be an exodus, not of Biblical proportions, but big enough from Louisiana to Orlando in a few weeks. As those who don't Mardi Gras, celebrate Mousey Gras, or Fat Tuesday in Disney World.

I don't know if they call it Mousey Gras in Disney Parks or not, but they sure are missing one hell of an idea to sell you an overpriced sweatshirt, balloon, or massive bloom of cotton candy. That would be very unlike Disney to find a way to make a dollar off of people who have paid thousands for a vacation and then have to awaken at the crack of dawn just to make dinner reservations.

New Amusement Park, Water Park to Be Built Near Disney World in Orlando

Sorry, am I ruining your Disney vibe with my reality? How about some good news that doesn't involve any rodents, monorails, or pancakes with mouseears on them? It has just been revealed that a new amusement park is going to be built in the Orlando, Florida area.

These parks will feature an important advantage over Disney, if you ask me. These parks will be indoors. Say Hallelujah and damn the humidity and heat. Not only will these parks be built indoors, but they will be water parks. The attractions are said to include lazy rivers, wave pools, water slides, and a host of other unique rides and attractions.

Toy Giant Announces Plans for New Orlando Amusement Park

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the new Orlando attraction is who is building it. Let's play a quick guessing game. Who makes your favorite toy cars? Who makes your favorite doll? Who is America's foremost name in toys? Have you figured it out? It's Mattel, the toy giant, is building an amusement park.

Mattel Wonder Indoor Parks will encompass everything you'd want in a water park, and they're going to do it with Hot Wheels, Barbie, and a number of their famous toy brands leading the way. I can only imagine a waterslide inspired by Hot Wheels tracks. I can feel my stomach already getting queasy.

The folks who are assisting Mattel in the design and implementation of the new parks are the crew from Martin Aquatic. You probably don't know them, but you know their work. Their portfolio includes Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day at Coco Cay, without the big cruise fight.

And they also were instrumental in the design of Universal Orlando's Volcano Bay and The Ritz-Carlton in Naples, Florida. So, you know the parks will be top drawer and a great addition to any central Florida vacation.

When Will The New Mattel Amusement Park in Orlando, Florida Open?

The details on when the project will be completed and opening are still in the planning stages since the first permits for construction and engineering were just filed last week. But it's something to be excited about if you're a fan of theme parks, water rides, long lines, and people with strollers who have no situational awareness.

Sorry, I was left in a room with It's A Small World playing on loop for six hours as a baby. I have issues. Just kidding, well, about the song on loop part anyway. And remember, while Disney may be fun, it ain't perfect.
