Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio has cancelled his campaign stop that was planned for Baton Rouge this Friday.

Rubio was slated to rally supporters from the Galvez Plaza stage in the state's capitol leading up to Saturday's Louisiana presidential primary.

A campaign spokesman didn't immediately have details about the cancellation but did confirm the event was no longer scheduled.

A post on the Facebook page for the Louisiana arm of his campaign says that the Louisiana event was cancelled "in order to use Marco's time as efficiently as possible before Saturday's contests."

Republican frontrunner Donald Trump along with U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz are still expected to hold their Louisiana rallies Friday night.

Trump will be at the Lakefront Airport in New Orleans while Cruz is slated to be at the Castine Center in Mandeville.
