For those who have been anxiously awaiting the return of normal travel for cruises lines, it might be a little bit further on down the line than we first anticipated. Carnival Cruise Lines announced yesterday that they are cancelling all cruises for the Carnival Valor through 2021. The ship has typically booked four and five day trips to Cozumel and Progresso, Mexico, and will now undergo dry dock maintenance in the coming months in their ship enhancement program. The company says that all iteneraries for Carnival Valor will be cancelled through April 29, 2021.

The ship is one of two that originates out of New Orleans, and is one of four that will be dry docked for enhancements. A spokesperson said that the Carnival Glory is set to resume sailing on October 31, 2020. Earlier this year cruise lines had voluntarily announced a suspension in operations until at least October 31, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Valor was also supposed to have a transatlantic cruise leaving from New Orleans on Jan 25, 2021, and returning from Barcelona on Feb. 26, 2021, but that has now also been cancelled. The company sent out letters to passengers today, (Wednesday, September 16) with further details about their cruise.

Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Lines told the Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate, via WWL, that "As we continue to work through issues related to our eventual return to operations, we are committed to providing our guests and travel agent partners with certainty where we can, although we regret disappointing our guests."
