NASA has announced they're hiring for the position of "Planetary Protection Officer" to protect Earth from harmful aliens. This radio thing has been fun and all, but I think I've finally found my calling. No, it's not a joke. It's actually a very serious and important career. The salary is reportedly $124,406 to $187,000 annually.
The "Planetary Protection Officer" is a little more complicated that watching radars for alien spaceships. NASA is looking for someone with a secret security clearance to ensure alien life, or "organic-constituent and biological contamination" doesn't find it's way back to Earth in a space ship, according to usatoday.com.
An alien space organism of any kind could potentially do some serious damage to us feeble humans, which is why NASA is hiring for this position.

There are some some pretty steep qualifications as well. According to the official job posting, candidates must have a degree in "physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics."
Well, looks like I won't be quitting my day job to fight aliens anytime soon.
