New Orleans Officials Say Mardi Gras Will Happen, But Will Look Quite Different
Ready or not, in just a handful of months it will be Mardi Gras Season in South Louisiana. New Orleans is arguably the hardest hit area of Louisiana when it comes to COVID-19. Officials say Mardi Gras 2021 will happen in the city, but expect it to look considerably different.
New Orleans city officials released a statement yesterday saying that they're currently working with krew captains and people of the City of New Orleans to "determine what Carnival will look like at a time when our resources are stretched so thing and many of our traditions present dangers to public health" as reported by KATC.
As of now however, exact details on exactly what will change for Mardi Gras 2021 have yet to be released, but should be soon.
What we do know is that several New Orleans Mardi Gras krews have decided to not participate in 2021, and the city has agreed to hold their spots until the 2022 Mardi Gras Season. You can read more on that HERE.
What could the "New Normal" for Mardi Gras in New Orleans even look like? I'm not sure, but I'm defiantly expecting things to get weird...even by New Orleans' standards.
