New Restaurant to Open in Former Cafe Des Amis Location
Cafe Des Amis on E. Bridge St. Breaux Bridge was a fixture for 25 years but sadly closed several months back.
There is some good news however as a new restaurant will be opening soon in that space.
According to The Daily Advertiser, Cafe Sydnie Mae is expected to open in a few weeks. The new restaurant will be the sister restaurant to The St. John Restaurant in St. Martinville.
"We're very excited and anxious to get the doors open and show the community what we have to offer," owner Chip Durand says. "We're excited to be here, to bring this back to life."
Cafe Des Amis was hugely popular on weekends for their zydeco brunch. However, since the restaurant's closure, nearby Buck & Johnny's has picked up that tradition.
Cafe Sydnie Mae will not be bringing back that signature event but will be offering delicious Cajun fare during the day and plated seafood and steak dishes by night.
The new restaurant is expected to open daily for lunch and Tuesday through Saturday for dinner.
We can't wait to give it a try!
